Just as every person deserves equal justice under the law, everyone deserves to see themselves represented in the pages of a book. Pritzker Hageman is committed to stocking the Pillsbury LFL with diverse books to promote empathy and understanding, break down biases, and expand the horizons of our community.
“Reading in Color” not only introduces people to new people, but it will help reduce issues of racial and other prejudices.
I didn’t see myself represented in books as I was growing. I want my children and my students to have the opportunity to experience seeing themselves reflected in the pages of books.
Everyone deserves to feel seen.
I am filling this library full of inclusive books, banned books and any book where a child might find representation and freedom of thought in order to know that being their authentic true selves is the best thing they can be for making this world a beautiful place.
