We believe in ourselves when our community believes in our importance as reflected in all of our media. Each of us must publicly demonstrate our acceptance and respect for all people and all life in everything we do.
Respect is a step toward understanding and love.
It is important to be inclusive and diverse in our book selections to allow people to reflect about themselves, learn about other people and experiences, and to recognize our similarities and acknowledge our differences. Sharing is caring.
My hometown, Petaluma, does not have a lot of diversity, but I want everyone to feel included. My parents had a lot of diversity in their friends, so I grew up not really thinking anything about race. My students & grandchildren are living in a different world.
I believe that sharing books by diverse authors, illustrators, and containing characters of diversity, promotes acceptance of all races and ethnicity.
We have a wonderful community that are very diverse and would love to be included in this program!
