I think this is very important for the young and old at heart ❤️
A decade ago I decided to focus on African-American writers for Black History Month and realized how beneficial it was to me to read more diversely. I’ve since pledged to never read more than two books by white writers in a row, and my life is better for it.
As a mother of a Black girl, it’s a personal and lifetime investment I want to make on behalf of children who look like my daughter so she understands through my actions the importance of empowering her global sisters.

As a person of color, I believe it to be important for our voices and our experiences to be heard not only for other people of color but for those outside of our typical communities.
United Way GBACC is dedicated to spreading diversity and promoting inclusion throughout our communities, increasing literacy for students and families, and making our community better for every person.
I want and need to broaden my understanding of other perspectives, experiences and get out of my comfort zone.
