215 bodies of babies and children from the Residential School in Kamloops were found last week. We were not taught (I am 36) this part of history. We need to educate ourselves with diverse materials for every culture race, beliefs and out history.

To promote empathy, understanding and amplify voices that are representative of all in our community. The library is a service to the entire community.
It’s not just important that we can see ourselves as the hero.
We need everyone else to see us as the heroes too.

I believe children need to see themselves in the literature they read.
Our library strives to be a window to new worlds and a mirror of the cultures it stands in.
Because a child that sees themself in a book engages with reading, sees possibilities of opportunity outside their immediate surroundings, and better connects to the world around them.
