I believe it is essential to empower young children of color to believe in their ability to read to become truly free, to become writers of their own story, and to have access to books written by and about people of color.

Every reader ought to see themselves reflected in the pages of books. Our lives are richer for learning about and understanding the experiences of diverse range of human experiences. I’m deeply committed to elevating voices that have been marginalized and oppressed.
