I am a person of color, but only in the last few years have I begun to see and understand the privileges that I had. As you say, everyone deserves to see their likenesses in books.
Sappho’s Library was created to accomplish the goal of representing LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and Spanish-speaking communities in a conservative part of Missouri that lacks diversity in schools and libraries.
Storybook Nook is focused on Childrens books. Being able to identify with the characters they are reading about is critical to a childs reading development and self-esteem.
