Our DE&I committee is starting a Little Free Library at our agency and want to pledge for Read in Color
We Read in Color to better understand our students, our staff, our community, and the world.
Since opening my library I have made sure to include books (especially for children) featuring character with different ethnicities and by coloured authors. I think it’s important especially with young children to see themselves mirrored in the things they read and watch
Because we are all just here to walk each other home.
Durham is one of the few cities in the US without a racial majority and we seek to be neighbors who promote reading that has authors reflective of our city.
I think that diversity will save our beleaguered country!
