I believe all children/adults of all colors or nationality should have the opportunity to read books of their choosing.
I already have one separate box within my LFL dedicated to books for African American Kids where all the books have African Americans as the main character in the book.
Diversity is important so everyone feels included.
Stories are how we connect to others; we must always listen with our hearts and our ears.
I am taking the pledge because of I believe in leading by example. I am a PTA President and we have a very diverse school and I think its important that we are all involved in reading diverse books .
We believe in developing, writing, and purchasing books that encompass the entire human race and for everyone to have access to various points of view by a diverse representation of people of all colors, religions, abilities, and beliefs.
As a teacher, I know how important it is for children to read books and that they are able to connect to the text. We are becoming increasingly diverse and it is imperative that everyone is represented, and that all stories are told.
