Every child deserves the opportunity to see themselves in the books they read!
We all have the right to dream the characters we read, to put ourselves in their stories of sorrow, misfortune, and triumph. Reading in color is power.
As a retired school teacher, I’ve always celebrated diversity in books that I’ve shared with my students. I want that to continue in my Free Little Library.
Because it’s needed and important!
As a EcoWomanist, I have always made sure those around me in both my family and community know that we are represented in literature, both fiction and nonfiction.
One most see themselves and others in images and words in order to view the world holistically.
We owe it each other.
We live in a diverse community and I’ve always included books about people of all nationalities and colors. We are one people!
I recognize the power a book can have on a person’s life. This is a wonderful project to educate and help our world become more inclusive. That is something I support!
We are sisters and brothers with all of creation.
