As a steward living in an Environmental Justice Community on the Southside of Chicago, filled with bittersweet realities, I’m convinced the more we read about our awesomeness, the better we strive to become and overcome the impact of systemic racism. We need to read our own stories of diversity.
I’m taking the Read in Color pledge so that one day my children can read stories that reflect who they are. We need to recognize and amend the racial inequalities in all industries- book industry included.
We stand with our brothers and sisters as we believe in compassion and love for all as we support dismantling harmful systems.
