Everyone deserves to see themselves as the hero of a story.
Everyone should be able to see role models who look like themselves. Books can function like mirrors on your own lives or windows through which you can learn about people different from yourselves. Books are treasures for people of all ages, races, and backgrounds.
I’ve also been drawn to diverse voices in art, literature and music. I believe it’s time books were more representative of our community.
Reading opens my eyes and takes me places I will never be able to travel to.
